Renesys has a fun blog post discussing networking “cybernuke” scenarios. Pretty good points, and I like how similar the monoculture of option 3 mirrors that of desktop OS environments. One of the points that resonates with me is any “cybernuke” that someone wants to detonate would certainly disrupt their own experience on the Internet.
